Meet The Staff - Brooke, Mornington
How long have you worked at The Laboratory for and what do you love most about working at The Lab?
I have been lucky enough to be the store manager of The Laboratory Mornington store for almost 6 years. My greatest joy is really getting to know my customers and building relationships; when I’m unpacking new stock, I immediately know what styles will work for specific clients!
I also love to build confidence in women by providing them style advice, tips and outfit ideas to ensure my customers leave our store feeling happy.
Merchandising and styling the store is also another part of my job that I am really passionate about and really enjoy. I take great pride in ensuring I make a beautiful space for our customers that not only showcases our garments the best way, but also makes shopping easy.
What do you think makes The Lab different?
I think The Lab difference is that we design for the real woman. We have such diverse collections, with our five different in- house brands that truly cater for everybody. I often hear that customers are thrilled to be able to have such variety to choose from.
Where do you find style inspiration from?
In the time that I have worked for The Lab I have become a mum so my body and style has definitely changed over the years. I often find myself looking at different Instagram accounts for style inspiration and outfit ideas that suit my body and my lifestyle.
I am also inspired by the women around me and love getting their tips for new local labels and their favourite fashion finds.
What has been one of your most memorable moments from your time working at The Laboratory?
I’ve been lucky enough to have been involved in opening some of our new Laboratory stores – and the rush of setting up a new store (and having people peek through the windows excited to see what’s happening) has to be one of the highlights of my job.
Another highlight for me has to be the people I work with. My colleague Sue and I are often singing while we work and if we catch one another we burst into laughter. Sue is such a fun and vibrant woman, we honestly have the best fun working together every single day and I feel very fortunate to have her.
What is your favourite way to spend a day off?
I love to get out and about with my daughter. We often head to The Winey Cow for breakfast then have a walk through the local shops like Page8, Main Desire &Treehouse Republic.
We always end our day at beautiful Mothers beach.
What is your current TV-binge must-watch?
I absolutely love The Affair (on Foxtel). It’s such a fascinating storyline filled with love, tragedy and secrets. I’m completely hooked!
